When I open a new MacBook, Alfred is the first app I install. It’s so ingrained in me that MacOS will be different without it.

I feel like I'm super behind on learning the power of Alfred but WOW the workflows probably save at least 30min of time in my day I have no idea how I lived without Alfred.

The one time lifetime payment is a no-brainer, I know I'm going to be using it for as long as I have a Mac.

Pros
+ custom workflows (5)+ powerpack features (2)

You're still using Spotlight in 2025? Seriously? Alfred is superior and faster than Spotlight. It's a good app and has a lot of functions. I always recommend Alfred as a Spotlight replacement.

Pros
+ fast performance (3)+ spotlight replacement (4)

This is a must-have Mac app for me! So many useful workflows, and that's before any of the AI integration. Snippets, quick links, and converters are all so handy.

Pros

I'd find macOS unbearable without Alfred. It's easy to forget what "clean" macOS was like, because they've been shipping features that replace or complement what was a separate app, back in the day.

I use this instead of Spotlight. I use it with a Pomodoro timer script that someone wrote and I just grabbed in <5m. I use it for all my keyboard shortcuts, because it's much faster than cmd+tabbing or anything similar. I use it for expansions for boilerplate code and LaTeX. I'm sure there are other, fancier features, but I don't use those.

Alfred 4 was worth the money. The upgrade to 5 wasn't super worth it for me, but I did so to support the creators anyway.

Pros
+ spotlight replacement (4)+ custom workflows (5)+ fast performance (3)+ text expansion (2)
Cons
not cheap (1)
