Workhorse text editor that is both simple and far more powerful than TextEdit
I started using BBEdit in 1994 and never stopped! Although most of my coding happens in Xcode and most of my writing happens in iA Writer, BBEdit is where I write HTML/CSS, thanks to the live preview. It's also where I do heavier regex transformations.

BBEdit is an excellent text editor for a variety of uses. My personal usage mostly revolves around searching through lots of large log files looking for information. It can handle huge files gracefully like no other text editor, and has more features than you can shake a stick at.
