Meilisearch is the fastest search experience we've ever seen. The team is also a pleasure to work with as they are search experts and supportive.
This saved us months of work and delivers amazing search experience for our users. WOW, and self hosted means it's free. Mind blown
A great way to manage a powerful search engine easily by combining it with LLM embeddings and vector search!
A drop-in search engine that does one thing, but does it very well. Perfectly documented, easy to set up, no extra training required to use it.
Meilisearch, as it is, is great. However, if you have the chance, make it self-hosted. Meilisearch Cloud is just a bunch of incompetent people unable to solve any issues. Even when they solve something, the problem tends to occur again. Even if you pay for a better instance, it seems they keep the parameters as low as possible, causing multiple problems. If you don't want to end up with search freezes lasting for three hours frequently, don't go with Meilisearch Cloud.
Meilisearch is a best of breed state of the art full test search engine written in Rust, fully Open Source, but with a commercial offering.
It is evidently a great replacement for Elastic when you need fulltext - but even more so of Algolia. And coupled with something like Crawl4AI or one of the other crawlers it can give you huge mileage as a general purpose search engine. Simple. Fast. Robust.
Conflict of interest statement: I have none. It's just an incredibly lovely piece of software.
The API is pretty, usable and very easy to understand and the client libs are top-notch too (full disclosure: I only used the Golang, Python and JS ones).
For the vector retrieval side of the house: with Meilisearch it is basically a setting on an Index. That’s it. You tell it which embedding model / service to use, you give it a URL and an API key. It is going to take care of everything by itself. Nothing to do. No pipelines. No Llama index. No langchain. Nothing. A setting.
Actually wrote a full-blown medium post just to say how cool this is.
I have been using Elastic since version 0.2 and as far as FT generally... I kinda have 30 years of track record in choosing winners. Ask me about CPL from AOL one of these days.
A powerful, open-source, search engine. Used it when it was in its early stages and experienced all the good and bad stuff that happened along the way. Things have gotten way better after the release of version 1.0.0, although the updating process of Meilisearch itself is still a pain point.
As for the functionality and feature-set, it has everything I need. The highlight was how simple and easy it was to setup initially. I got it working in 5 minutes, and that left a great first impression on me. Here's hoping the update process (dump -> update -> restore) becomes a thing of the past.
🚀 Big shoutout to Meilisearch! I'm using Meilisearch as the search engine for Devgen, my AI codebase assistant, and it’s awesome! It’s super fast, easy to set up, and makes finding code and docs a breeze. Huge thanks to Meilisearch for making search so simple and powerful! 🔍💻
Meilisearch is an easy-to-use search engine that has helped me to develop the search capabilities of my web app (firebits.io) while being the only developer involved in the project.
We use meilisearch extensively for our geo position-based searches. Easy to setup and incredibly quick. Perfect for our usecase.
By integrating Meilisearch into 31memorize, users can search for vocabulary terms swiftly and efficiently, enhancing their learning experience.
I am using Meilisearch almost since the beginning and it has never let me down. Never had any serious problems with it. It is much better for our company than the overley complicated Elasticsearch we were using before.
