Our company has been using SafetyWing for some time now. I appreciate how the claim process has improved over time. It's now very easy to follow! Customer support is always super responsive.

I remember the first several times I was doing claims and now - there's a huge improvement in UX. It's much more intuitive and quicker to complete. Feels like you need to fill in less information and only the important one. I like that you can easily follow claim progress, get updates via email. Support is also fast to reply.

Is easier to put claims and the form is very intuitive

I purchased a Nomad Insurance policy from SafetyWing (underwritten by Tokio Marine HCC) while traveling in Europe. I submitted a legitimate claim for a simple medical expense (100 EUR), including all required documents: medical report, prescription, invoice, receipt, and my insurance card. Despite following all instructions and sending everything multiple times, the company kept asking for more clarification and delayed the process for months. In the end, they refused the refund, giving vague explanations and requesting documents that had already been provided. Customer service was unhelpful, responses were slow and generic, and it feels like they are simply avoiding reimbursement. They only respond publicly when you leave negative reviews—I posted a complaint on Trustpilot, and they immediately asked me to contact them again. I followed up as requested but once again received no reply. It seems they just want to appear responsive in public while continuing to ignore you behind the scenes. I do not recommend this insurance provider. It’s cheap but when you actually need it, they do not deliver.

When you read all the reviews of people on here and other places saying that this company refuses to pay claims … BELIEVE THEM!

I have been a customer of SafteyWing for many years and Ive never made a claim before. I had a medical situation arise out of the blue and had to seek medical treatment. It was a legitimate claim and 100% fell within the boundaries of the policy. I submitted the claim and it was denied... the reason was given that they do not support pre-existing or chronic conditions. My situation was neither pre-existing, nor chronic. It literally arose overnight and was gone within 3 weeks. I had a medical report and an MRI from a surgeon. They also wrote on their rejection reply to me …

“In an ideal world we would pay every single claim. In the real world, paying every claim would result in extremely expensive insurance”.

In an ideal world, an insurance company would honor their terms and conditions… but they did not.

To add to this, I filed an appeal and had to chase them up about it after nearly a month to which they told me they didn’t have it and can I please submit the claim again. I took the time out of my busy day to go through the whole process again and re-submit the claim, only to be told it didn’t come through (even though I have a signed document from them saying they received it)… but that it didn’t really matter anyway because they were still going to deny it and if I wanted to file another appeal I could do so in 6 months. They have no intention of ever honoring the agreement. They will find any excuse they can to not pay your claim… even if it IS 100% legitimate.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! I wish I had listened to all the people I saw writing about what a scam they were. I will never use them again. BUYER BEWARE!

I've now used them for a couple of years! I've had no major issues thus far. I genuinely enjoy their newsletter and the community they are creating with travel and nomads insurance! Shout out to Katie Smith who proudly promotes her company!

I purchased SafetyWing because I was already traveling and my former insurance company wouldn't accept an extension.

Most other insurance companies that offer travel insurance services do not allow you to purchase your policy if you are already abroad. Even some put a 14 day hold of claims period, in which if something happens, you are most likely to not get coverage.

SafetyWing, through their Nomad Insurance product, offered me protection since day 1 at 00:00 from the date of purchase (the first day of my trip extension). I paid a reasonable amount for a 43 day trip and two weeks later I continued my trip from Spain (Barcelona) to Indonesia (Bali).

Once arriving in Bali, I enjoyed the island for a night and the next night was admitted at an urgent care clinic 10 minutes away from my hotel. The total bill for that emergency visit was less than USD 1,000.-, I paid and kept medical records and the receipt for further claiming purposes.

14 days passed and I enjoyed many beaches and destinations within the Island. The day of my trip back to Barcelona I got "Bali Belly" (travelers Gastrointestinal Infection/Disease), and I was not able to board my flights. After attending BIMC Kuta Hospital for an emergency visit, they recommended 3/4 day in hospitalization. I paid for a deposit that the Hospital refunded me when they got the GOP (Guarantee of Payment) from the Insurance. After that all costs where covered by SafetyWing.

While returning from Indonesia to Spain on the plain and free of diseases, I was able to successfully place six claims for all expenses incurred (2 emergency visits, 2 follow ups and 2 out of pocket expenses claims). These claims were submitted on a Friday, by Monday, I already had the money DEPOSITED into my account (payment was a US domestic ACH).

Overall I recommended SafetyWing's Nomad Insurance product to all my friends abroad and at home, I wish that the experience continues to be this good in the future as I will continue purchasing this insurance product when I travel abroad.

SafetyWing offers great value for digital nomads and travelers. Easy to use, affordable, and reliable worldwide coverage. Claims process could be smoother, but excellent customer support makes up for it. Highly recommended for hassle-free travel insurance.

Excellent product and support! I don’t leave my home country without Nomad Insurance. I’ve fortunately only needed to make a claim once, but the process was very easy and quick.

It’s my first year with them and it’s been a good experience overall. The chat feature has been very useful for me to understand the system or ask questions. They’ve been supporting in my needs and haven’t had any issue with reimbursement. The dashboard is easy to use. Placing claims has also been smooth. Only problem I had was that I couldn’t get through with anyone on the emergency line during an emergency I had with my child and had to take him to ER anyways without a reply. I left an email explaining the situation before going to ER and they were understanding and did reimburse the expenses that one time because it was an emergency even though it went over the limit they place. I’m still navigating the preapproval feature.

As someone who travels and works abroad, SafetyWing has been a lifesaver. They've recently revamped their website, and the new look and feel are fantastic. The claim process, which used to be somewhat cumbersome, is now much more efficient and user-friendly. I must give a shout-out to their customer service team—they are truly amazing and have always provided top-notch service. Highly recommended!!!

Great UX, super friendly, easy to use, quick to both enter insurance claims and get paid. Customer service through the chat is super helpful as well if you need a quick answer regarding insurance coverage or any help through your claim or payment.

I've had cases where my refund was processed and received in less than 24 hours!
