SaneBox

Like most, I use to allow my inbox to control my day. Which is not productive. SaneBox really helps with quickly getting rid of the emails that I either don't need at all or can defer to later. It takes a bit to get the habit going. But once you do, it is a game changer. Also, they have great staff. Never had a bad interaction.

This has replaced a large number of mail rules I used to have - and more importantly, the time I spent maintaining them. Also adds a bunch of functionality over and above what mail rules can do (even using imapfilter).

However, there is a fly in the ointment. With push notifications, I frequently get notified of an email arriving before Sanebox has a chance to 'see' it and files it away for later. So I get a lot more 'nuisance' notifications for emails that Sanebox decides isn't important a few moments later. In other words, there's a race condition between email client notifications and Sanebox processing.

Their support folk are aware of this, and their workaround is to turn off push notifications. I wasn't impressed.

I've suggested that they add the ability to configure which folder they consider is the 'Inbox', so I can write a single mail rule to put incoming mail there. Then Sanebox would see the email before any email clients, who would continue to monitor the actual Inbox.

That way I'd only get notified for emails that Sanebox determined should be moved to the actual Inbox from the secondary one. However, I don't know if this is something Sanebox are considering - the support person said they'd pass the suggestion along, but given how long sanebox has been available, I can't believe this is a new idea to them. So I'm not holding my breath, and I'm still looking for either a way to work around this, or an alternative that doesn't have this flaw.

I'm the CIO at a community college and interact with many other schools in our system and our parent organization. Sanebox helped me to focus on the emails I needed to see and only glance at the rest. It gives me the right amount of focus and control and has made my email work reasonable, whereas before, it was too much to handle well. Highly recommended.

SaneBox is a simple tool that works. Once integrated with Outlook, it immediately took action to focus my attention on emails that matter the most. It minimizes overwhelm and helps me minimize distractions, as any email that's not important can quickly become a time-sucking distraction. I recommend trying SaneBox for anyone who claims to hate email or has an inbox that is a mess.

I’m so glad I found SaneBox because it is ultra-affordable and really helps me keep my inbox clean of junk. It was hard to find a service that didn’t require running some sort of app or program, it just runs in the background and works with any provider. I’d definitely recommend them if you have trouble keeping your inbox organized!

SaneBox really lives up to its name! I HATE email. I manage multiple email accounts and always felt overwhelmed, missing messages, forgetting important tasks because I was swamped. SaneBox has really helped me turn that around. I now know where to look for messages, can quickly delete/file anything I don’t want to read right away, and can come back to lower priority things later. I would honestly recommend it to anyone.

My email was out of control before I started using SaneBox. SaneBox automatically moves emails that I'm not interested in to the "SaneBlackHole" folder, and I know that I don't have to deal with those emails (unless I want to). The SaneBox digest (which I've set to receive 3 times daily) lets me review emails very quickly and choose which ones to discard, move or keep. I would say that SaneBox has saved me several hundred hours in the last year. Highly recommended - you can't go wrong!

I use Fastmail, which, unlike Gmail, does not have integrated filters for different junk mail categories ("promotions", "social media", etc.). SaneBox has really helped clear up my Fastmail inbox, providing an easy filter for "blackhole" (i.e., mass mail that generally can be disregarded) and "SaneLater" (not essential but deserves a read or response). Sanebox is trainable by clicking and dragging emails into the different folders. It has saved me lots of time in my normal Inbox routine and has helped me manage my inbox to a reasonable amount of "unread" messages.

before Sanebox i was constantly organizing incoming emails and I had 100 different filters set up. Most of those are gone now and I just check the @SaneX folders for what the next thing is. Saved me so much time each week
