Why is it a pkg download instead of a dmg with just the app inside it?
I started using Sidekick because I really wanted to try out Arc but wasn't a Mac user. Even if Arc does come out with a Windows version, I may still stick with Sidekick. It's made me far more productive in school (plus students get free pro accounts). It's like my brain works differently in Sidekick compared to any other browser. The discord is super active, which is helpful. Overall, it definitely lives up to its "distraction-free" marketing.
Have been using Sidekick since the first launch and the experience is really fantastic. It's a truly seamless, intuitive and streamlined browsing experience. Congrats on the launch!
Overall, it's a good browser with a good concept, but it has some bugs and issues. not even worth a pro subscription. Some issues I had:
- 1Password is not supported
- White screen on some websites, for example, when editing in Elementor
- Google Meet buttons is not clickable I had to reopen the website And some little bugs and issues that hurt the ux.
Used to be a nice browser, sadly, it's becoming a security risk. Its Chromium version is out of date and they recently closed their discord where they gathered feedback. They said they were working on a new project, so this no longer seems to be the focus. Very bad for a PAID product.
Having used it as a Pro user for more than 1.5 years, I have decided to cancel my subscription for the following reasons -
- Lack of proper support
- Constant regression
- Lack of communication
- Asking users to manually download the upgrades
- Updating statuses without user consent
- Multiple issues with url redirections
- Broken apps with multiple user accounts(eg: gmail with personal and corporate accounts)
- Tabs and groups getting disorganised when switching from one session to the other
With that being said, I've really enjoyed the following features which have improved my productivity -
- Ability to convert commonly used URLs to apps
- Sessions have been amazing
- Option + F to search is a lifesaver
Downgrading my rating to 1 star after they converted my yearly Pro subscription to a monthly subscription without my consent and decided to charge 15$ per month compared to 49$ per annum. Quite predatory and unjustifiable.
Sidekick is my EDC for browser. I love just about everything, and the only thing to make me leave would be if Arc and Sidekick had a baby and took the best of each. I love the sidebar, the workspace, the groups, the speed, memory management, and more. Just a really, really great browser. AND -- it honors my window title names which are vital to my workflows, automations, and password entry (KeePass).
usefull and nice but very invasive -> it changed my gmail signature, created a status on discord and maybe a lot of other things in the background. Not nice. Sorry but it kind of shattered my confidence in the tool
Paywalling basic features like allowing side to side browsing is atrocious. Could be a great application and browser, but unfortunately greed is the name of the game here. It could be the killer app with all the new ones gaining steam like Arc and Sigma, but if it's going to continue to gatekeep basic features, it will fail.
I have been jumping around browsers for a while - chrome, safari, brave, arc and everything. This was one of the easiest to set up and with every passing minute, I see something new.
It's by far the best purchase I have made on Appsumo. So far I don't feel VPN is working or how to use VPN in the browser but EVERYTHING is crazy good. I can't even find 1 problem in the application.
I very highly recommend Sidekick.
Best chromium browser ever 😍 I recommend it to everyone. I hope it will be available on iOs soon, can't wait to install it on all my devices !
Browser with VPN - my constant companion in the online world! With its help I can freely travel through virtual spaces without borders and restrictions. Setting up a VPN and using it is a whole science, but thanks to its intuitive interface and easy connection, it's a great pleasure to work with it.
I have been using Sidekick for almost two years now and it acted as a pain killer on my consultant nerves.
I switch context at work quite a bit, plus, being a developer, my Mac is loaded quite heavily at any given time. I just like to keep all of my active projects running at any given time, so that context switching does not hurt that hard.
Chrome having been the biggest violator of my RAM, has always been the biggest cause of pain. After switching to sidekick, the pain was gone, nothing ever freezes, plus all of the web apps that I use are now located in the Sidekick's side panel, which also makes me more productive.
